Finnnnnnallllllllllyyyyyy, the NFL season begins. Lets take a look at the UAL Week 1 matchups, as we get the ball rolling on the 2010 season.
**Game of the Week**
Yahoo Projected Fantasy Points: Steamers 111 vs Weiner 114
There will be plenty of fireworks in Week 1’s **Game of the Week** as the Cleveland Steamers look to cock block Weiner. This will be a close one as both managers get monster games from several of their key players. However, Ahmad Bradshaw is the difference for Weiner as he contributes big this week vs. CAR at the RB2 position.
It is a brutal Week 1 loss for the Steamers management for several reasons. First, it always sucks to lose Week 1. Second, the fantasy football gods are LTFAO at the Steamer’s management as they are forced to root for both Romo and Austin to torch the Skins in real life, but are up against both in fantasy football in Week 1.
Gentle Turtles (OPR 1) vs Clever Team Name (OPR 6)
Yahoo Projected Fantasy Points: Gentle Turtles 106 vs Clever Team Name 113
The Gentle Turtles look to begin their title defense with a tough win in Week 1 versus Clever Team Name. The Gentle Turtles are encouraging their Gunslinger to not have too much fun out their on Thurs night and to redeem himself for single handedly losing the NFC title game last season. This high scoring fantasy matchup could easily come down to Monday Night and be determined by whomever Revis is assigned to shut down as both the Gentle Turtles and CTN are starting a Baltimore WR.
The Bear Jews (OPR 12) vs Schul (4)
Yahoo Projected Fantasy Points: Bear Jews 105 vs Shul 116
The Bear Jews, quite possibly the best team name this year, square off versus Shul, hands down the worst team name this year. The QB play for both the Bear Jews and Schul in Week 1 will be lackluster at best, as both Eli and Ryan go up against tough pass defenses. Unfortunately, for the Bear Jews the New York Giants elect to do most of their scoring on the ground in Week 1 versus the Panthers, which stings as the Bear Jews start Eli, Smith, and Nicks. In addition, Shul’s running backs both absolutely crush it this week as both Chris Johnson (vs Oak) and Benson (vs NE) have great matchups. Bet Shul to cover the spread in this one all day.
Breaston Plants (OPR 7) vs The Slowskies (OPR 11)
Yahoo Projected Fantasy Points: Breaston Plants 105 vs The Slowskies 111
A lover’s quarrel breaks out in Scottsdale as the Breaston Plants take on The Slowskies. This slap fight gets a little too heated when The Slowskies pull some hair as they are fed up with all of the bashing they have received in the Official Power Rankings. The Slowskies appear to be making some strategic starts this week and have currently benched their young gun Flacco (vs Jets) in favor of their #1 man crush McNabb (vs Dallas). This will be a close one, but if The Slowskies strategic starts pan out (they also appear to be benching Pierre Thomas for Hightower), they should pull out the win.
The Bedwetters (OPR 2) vs Drinking a Forte (OPR 10)
Yahoo Projected Fantasy Points: Bedwetters 106 vs Drinking a Forte 109
The Bedwetters look to hold off Drinking a Forte in this Fort Worth fight. If either Brees or Moss can blow up for Drinking a Forte they should be able to pull off the upset. If his stars don’t shine, Drinking a Forte will be poured down the drain as McCoy will have a tough time versus the Packers stingy run defense.
Ricky’s Blunt Forces (OPR 9) vs Big Ry (OPR 8)
Yahoo Projected Fantasy Points: Ricky’s Blunt Forces 112 vs Big Ry 103
This matchup has an interesting dynamic to it. Ricky’s Blunt Forces has Rodgers who should blow up this week, but Big Ry owns Jennings , who if he is the main beneficiary of Rodgers TD passes this could potentially weigh in Big Ry’s favor. In addition, Big Ry owns Rivers but RBF is starting Matthews, both are great plays versus the Chiefs it just becomes a question of how will San Diego score all of its TDs. However, Ricky’s Blunt Forces should win this week based on better RB matchups, as Turner, Big Ry’s first round pick, has to go up against the Steelers.
Best of luck to everyone in Week 1. Let’s hope for no major injuries this week, especially you Tom Brady.
Regards,
The Commish
